Description

The dual action of Meropenem and Sulbactam is useful in treating a wide range of bacterial infections. The medication belongs to the category of drugs called anti-infectives. Aviva Pharmatech is marketing Meropenem and Sulbactam injections under the brand name ICPENEM-S in the dosage of 1.5gm. ICPENEM-S is available in the dosage form of powder for intravenous injection or infusion, reconstitute before use for I.V. use only.

Indications 

The combination of Meropenem and Sulbactam is useful in the treatment of pneumonia, lung and bronchial infections in patients with cystic fibrosis, bacterial septicemia, complicated urinary tract infections, infections in the abdomen, post-childbirth infections, complicated skin, and soft tissue infections, acute bacterial infection of the brain (meningitis). The medication comprises two main ingredients Meropenem and Sulbactam.

Meropenem is a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic and Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Meropenem is an antibiotic that treats the infection by killing the bacteria. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor, an enzyme produced by bacteria that can destroy many antibiotics and prevent the destruction of Meropenem from the bacteria. The combined action of these two drugs kills the infection-causing bacteria and provides relief.

Usage Instructions

2. Meropenem and Sulbactam injections shall be stored in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.

3. People with a medical history of liver and kidney disorder shall consult their doctor before using this antibiotic injection.
